The dragonfly is symbolic in almost every culture throughout the world. To the Japanese Samurai, it is a symbol of victory, power, and agility. In China, it is a sign of luck associated with prosperity and harmony. In Native American cultures, it is seen as a sign of purity and happiness. In almost every part of the world the dragonfly symbolizes change. Unlike other symbols of change, the change associated with the dragonfly is that of maturity, gaining a sense of self, positive life-force renewal power, and poise.
